Full Knockout Search

This customized search service is usually requested when a company has one or more patents and suspects another company (referred to as the "target" company) of infringement and want to include all of the patents and products of the target company in the search. This research is similar to an Infringement Search in that it is also a two-part search, but it will normally include all products and patents of the target company. This is a worldwide search of all available patent and product information on the target company

This search service may take several months or more depending on the complexity of the engagement.

Upon receiving the request for service, a Clearly Understood Search Coordinator will contact you to obtain the necessary search details. This includes one or more of your company's patents, the name of the target company, and whether you want to include all affiliated companies of the target company in the search. After gathering the search details a Clearly Understood Search Coordinator will evaluate the project, develop a search plan, produce a time-line estimate, and create a price quote for the service. This search proposal will be reviewed with you. During the search a Clearly Understood Search Coordinator will remain in contact with you as to the progress of the search.

Examples

A software company has a competitor with several worldwide products that seem suspiciously similar to its products. The software company wants to know if the target company potentially is infringing and wants to review all products and patents the target company has.
A manufacturing company has been advised they are in violation of a specific patent. They want a Full Knockout search performed on a worldwide basis for any prior art that would invalidate this patent.
